The Clogging Connection Competition Team!

Team News

September 28, 2018:: Team dancers Jamie, Becky P, Alex, Kaley, Ale, Lauren, Audrey, Keiara, Kendylle, Summer, Blake, and Jocelyn went to the WTSP Channel 10 studios to talk about clogging, our team, competition results, and of course dance on their local talk/magazine show Great Day Live.  Their first appearance was a teaser about 5 minutes before the show start, in which Kaley, Blake, and Jocelyn performed double-doubles behind the hostess of the show as she talked.  When the show got under way, Kaley and Jamie were interviewed briefly.  They talked about what clogging is and isn't, how it's different from tap, and about our team and results from Nationals.  Next, we had 6 dancers (Ale, Keiara, Kendylle, Summer, Blake, Jocelyn) do an acapella version of one of our dances.  Various subgroups of our team were shown in cut scenes smiling and waving to the camera as they went to/returned from commercial.  Then 6 of our dancers (Alex, Kaley, Lauren, Ale, Audrey, Blake) did an acapella freestyle demonstration.  That would be our last appearance, however, as the show was preempted for coverage of the Kavanaugh hearings.  Ah well, we made a good impression so maybe we'll get to do it again in the future!!

September 23, 2018:: Clogging Connection held our annual open house today.  This is a time when returning team members find out which competitions we are attending during the coming season, where and when we are doing dance outs, and any policy changes.  We also use this time to invite anyone who is interested in dancing with Clogging Connection to find out more about the team, how we do things, how we run practices, and decide if they want to join us.  This year we are happy to announce we have added 5 new members to our little family: Becky C, Chanel, Jordan, Chelsea, and Cheryl.  Welcome to the family, we look forward to a great year!!

After the open house and demonstration practice for the new folks, the members of the 2017-2018 Clogging Connection Competition Team descended upon Olive Garden in Brandon for our end of season dinner and awards banquet.  Dancers were encouraged to dress up for the dinner, and did they ever!  All told we had 40 people in attendance.  Kaley was in charge of the awards, so she started the presentation after dinner orders were put in but before food arrived.  The overall winners from Nationals were honored and given gifts in recognition of their accomplishments.  2018 National Champion Tiny Tot Team ("Dogs" - Jocelyn, Dani, Scarlett, Shyla, David, Scotty) were each given a gift card to bounce at 2Infinity.  Overall Amateur Show ("Thugs" - Kaley, Alex, Blake, Summer, Erin, Chloe,  Audrey, Keaira, Ale, Lauren, Kendylle), Overall Show Duo (Kyle, Blake), and Overall Contemporary Duo (Kyle, Kaley) all  received charm jewelry (bracelets for the ladies, necklaces for the gentlemen) with a charm relating to what number/dance they won for.  Following this, the individual superlatives were awarded as follows:

"Play Of The Year" Award: Scarlett

Most Dedicated: Jocelyn

Best Showmanship: Kyle

Clumsiest Clogger: Keaira

Most Well Rounded: Blake
